    “There is a huge difference in losing 15-7 and 15-10 to a team that will have a top 10 ranking at the end of the year. It’s basically the same thing as beating bad teams by a lot, but now you are the “bad team.” Mid level teams can actually raise their ranking by playing the elite teams close.”

    It doesn’t matter what caliber team you are playing – the difference between 15-7 and 15-10 is the same. The rating you receive for a given game is anchored at the other team’s rating value, +/- points based on the score of the game. Beating Pitt 13-10 and losing 10-13 to a mid tier team in your region does the same thing for you as the reverse.
