Beau Kittredge has chosen to sign with the AUDL’s Dallas Roughnecks, leaving the San Jose Spiders after two years — and two gold medals — with the franchise. He announced his decision on his personal blog on Skyd Magazine.

The Roughnecks are owned by Jim Gerencser, also the founder of the charity organization E.R.I.C. and a co-founder of Ditch, the new media company operated by Kevin Minderhout. Gerencser and Kittredge have been working together for years on E.R.I.C. initiatives, among other projects.

Kittredge, the 2014 and 2015 AUDL MVP, will instantly breathe life into a Dallas team expected to continue adding talent.

The contract he signed has a number of unusual riders, including the funding of a video series about athletic training by Kittredge, the creation of a video series about building the team, extensive video coverage of the Roughnecks games, and an agreement that US National Team events and practice are his top priority, should he make the team.

When Kittredge played for Major League Ultimate in 2013, there was friction between him and the league front office when he missed MLU games for World Games training.

All told, this stands as one of the most player-friendly contracts that has ever been signed by either of the semi-pro leagues.

Kittredge will go for his third straight AUDL title with the Roughnecks in 2016.
