D-I Women’s Discussion

  • With Dartmouth choosing to focus more on roster development than winning at Northwest Challenge, Princess Layout picked up a few losses and fall from their perch atop our Power Rankings. In steps Texas, who rise to the top spot for the first time in program history. Stanford, winners of Northwest Challenge, also slot in ahead of Dartmouth this week at #2.
  • The #4-6 spots now belong to three teams who bolted up the Power Rankings thanks to big weekends in Seattle. With an undefeated weekend, Virginia moves up to #4. Pittsburgh is our new #5 after a second place finish at NWC. And Notre Dame rockets up the board to #6 after an out-of-nowhere performance against a slew of ranked teams.
  • British Columbia endures the biggest slide this week, dropping back to #10 after losses to Oregon and Notre Dame. Also moving backward was Colorado Kali, who took mostly tough losses against all four top 10 teams they faced this past weekend.
  • USC did little to revive their positive momentum from earlier this season, needing double game point to sneak by Carleton and Vermont. They now sit at #16.
  • Vermont, for their part, keep moving up the rankings after taking down Whitman. The Sweets — like fellow West Coasters UC Davis, UC San Diego, and Washington — continue to stumble despite plenty of opportunities to earn some season-changing victories.

D-I Men’s Discussion

  • For the second consecutive week, Men’s D-I sees no movement in the Power Rankings. Only #10 Brigham Young, #14 British Columbia, and #16 Washington were in action the past weekend — their performances at Northwest Challenge do not require any reordering.

D-III Women’s Discussion

  • The top end of the Women’s D-III Power Rankings remain mostly stable this week, aside from Rice sliding back to #10. Torque probably should have fallen last week after their uneven performance at Centex, but a solid weekend from Valparaiso at the back end of the Top 10 prompted the adjustment this week.
  • Skidmore continues their ascent up the Power Rankings after an undefeated tournament victory at Spring Awakening. They are looking more and more like the team to beat in the Metro East.
  • Lehigh drops a couple spots after picking up a loss to a B team at I-85 Rodeo.
  • Claremont also lost to a B team this past weekend at Trouble in Vegas; their disappointing results this season see them fall out of the rankings, though the Southwest region remains theirs for the taking.
  • Missouri S&T make their season debut in the rankings this week; they own a victory over #18 John Brown earlier this month.

D-III Men’s Discussion

  • The only mover in the Men’s D-III charts this week is Middlebury, who kicked off their spring season with a dominant undefeated weekend at Spring Awakening and move into the Top 10.
