Every Wednesday, we will post the College Power Rankings here on the front page to facilitate discussion in the comments and serve as a permalink for each week’s rankings.
With Vermont performing as expected at Tally Classic, the only change was a swap. Auburn entered the rankings, taking the #22 spot, after making it to the final in Tallahassee. It’s Auburn’s first time in the top 25. They knocked Georgia Tech out in the semifinals and out of the rankings.
Massachusetts needed some desperate comebacks to even reach the semifinal round of Tally Classic, where they underperformed in a loss to Georgia. Even considering they were without Brett Gramann, UMass is displaying some concerning traits, and fell to #14.
A very impressive Georgia team earned the #13 ranking with their run to the final of Tally Classic. It’s the highest they’ve been ranked this season, after a #25 ranking prior to Queen City Tune Up.
UNC Wilmington may have extended their undefeated season by winning Tally Classic, but they didn’t have the look of a top five team. Our rankings cooled on them, and they drop to #7.
LSU and Colorado State tangled in the Centex quarterfinals, and LSU’s victory got them a two spot bump to #20 and earned the commensurate drop for CSU, to #15.
It’s been a strong year for Florida, who moved to #12 with a 16-5 record after making it to the Centex final. They are the highest ranked team in the surprising Southeast region.
Texas did enough at Centex to make their first appearance in the top 25 of the season, at #25. They had a win over Northeastern, and some close losses to Florida and Colorado State.
