D-I Women’s Discussion

  • After clashing in the Florida Winter Classic final, #3 Ohio State and #7 Dartmouth retain their spots in the Top 10. Both teams were working players into new roles and systems at the first tournament of the season, but emerged unscathed heading into the final and showed plenty of potential for the rest of the spring.
  • Georgia as dealt a tough blow when star Marie Periever went down injured on Saturday at FWC, and stumbled to a 3-4 record on the weekend, seeing them fall three spots to #14. It appears Perivier’s injury won’t cause her to miss much time and Georgia still showed some fight playing without a few of their top contributors in Gainesville.
  • A surprising third-place finish at FWC sees Florida join the Power Rankings at #21. Gabby Krajniak and company look like a stronger side than the Fuel we saw in 2019 and could prove to be a worthy challenger for a bid in the Southeast. Last week’s #25 Oregon drops out to make room for Fuel.

D-I Men’s Discussion

  • With T-Town Throwdown the only meaningful competition on the season’s opening weekend, tournament champs Illinois earned a spot at the back end of our board thanks to knocking off former #24 LSU, who fall out of the Rankings. Finalist Alabama also looked promising and could fight their way into the Top 25 with sustained success this spring or struggles from other squads near the back end of the Rankings.
