Ultiworld’s 2019 Throw of the Year: Semifinals, Presented by Friction Gloves

Only four competitors remain!

Ultiworld’s 2019 Throw of the Year bracket is presented by Friction Gloves; all opinions are those of the author. Want to make highlights of your own? Try Friction Gloves!

One of our most popular series to begin each year, the Throw of the Year bracket is here!

We watched many hours of game footage and highlight reels to hunt down the hucks, breaks, bombs, dimes, and everything else; believe us, there were more than enough options to fill up this bracket, so even some worthy nominees were left on the cutting room floor. Over the next week, we’re inviting you, Ultiworld readers, to vote for your favorite of the finalists selected.

Check out all of the nominees and vote below, then check back to see which clips advance for another opportunity to participate. The third round of voting starts now and closes on Wednesday, April 8 at 12 PM ET.

The Rematch: Cardenas vs. Ross

And we’re back! After upsetting Cardenas in a round one head-to-head, Ross once again faces off with the Colombian power thrower. Ross achieved an impressive win over her teammate in the previous round, but Cardenas’s forehand dominated her opponent. Will history repeat for Ross or will Cardenas’ momentum win out?

Beyond Backhands and Forehands: McCann vs. Francombe

Maybe it isn’t the first thing you teach to a novice, but it takes advanced skill to be able to win the Throw of the Year. It takes true vision, precise and practiced execution, and guts and flare. A truly bold player can break through to the top.

Or you can throw a ridiculous scoober. It won McCann perhaps the closest match of any of this batch of Play of the Year brackets. It’s a toss up!

Jon Francombe – Disco Inferno (UK Indoor Social)
