Here Are The 2022 World Games Pools

On this week’s Deep Look podcast, WFDF Vice President Brian Gisel drew the pools for this summer’s World Games in Birmingham, Alabama.

The eight teams were initially ranked based on the results of the previous World Games (and by the WFDF world rankings for the teams that did not attend). The ranking was as follows:

#1: United States
#2: Colombia
#3: Canada
#4: Australia
#5: Japan
#6: Great Britain
#7: Germany
#8: France

The top two teams — USA and Colombia — were placed into two separate pools, and then each of the following pairs of teams was randomly selected into one of the two pools. That yielded the following pools:

Starting on July 12th, each team will play one game each day. The first three days of competition will be filled with round robin pool play, with the top two teams in each pool advancing to the semifinals. The semis and finals will round out the final two days of competition (along with consolation games).

The first game of the tournament — set for 9:30 AM Central time on July 12th — will be Canada v. Germany.

The full game schedule will be up on the World Games website soon. Tickets are available now.
