High School Power Rankings: Post Amherst Invite Edition [5/10/22]

Welcome to the fifth edition of the 2022 High School Power Rankings! We’re getting towards the end of the “regular season” of high school competition. State tournaments have already begun, particularly in the western half of the country. Many more will fill the next few weekends. The rankings can be permanently found on our Youth Rankings page.

The final rankings from next week will be used to determine the final invitations to the 2022 High School National Invite; many bids have been sent out on a rolling basis.

If you have additional information about tournaments or team strength that you would like to be considered for the High School Power Rankings, please email [email protected].

Without further ado, here are the Top 25 teams in the Boys’ and Girls’ High School Divisions!

Notes

  • #11 Amherst topped #24 Pennsbury 13-8 in their home tournament, the Amherst Invitational. They drop a bit in the rankings following a meaningful pool play loss to Pennsbury and a one point win over Lexington.
  • Pennsbury had a great weekend, getting the aforementioned win over Amherst and a pair of wins over #25 Columbia.
  • #18 Lexington is back in the rankings after a successful Amherst Invite. They easily won all their games up to semifinals, where they lost by just one goal to Amherst.
  • A special shoutout to some state champions: Saint Louis Priory (Missouri), Liberal Arts and Science Academy (Texas), and Air Academy (Colorado).

Notes

  • The New England rankings are looking more stabilized after Amherst Invitational. #21 Lexington is now the top team in Massachusetts: they haven’t lost in league play and crushed Amherst in the tournament final. Their early losses to Madison, West Windsor, and Jackson Reed keep them lower in the rankings. Four Rivers, with a pair of wins over Amherst and a split with Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH), is in the second spot in MA. Amherst drops just outside of the top 25. NMH drops out of the rankings as well after going 3-3 at AI.
  • Cleveland moves up seven spots to #11 after an upset victory over #6 Ingraham.
