ONE MORE YEAR, the world’s first graphic novel about ultimate frisbee, began its Kickstarter campaign today. Dubbed the authors’ “love letter to ultimate,” the book is the result of a four-year effort by “Contested Strip” columnists Megan Praz and Meghan Kemp-Gee. It follows fictional character Clint Holder, who is debating retiring from ultimate after failing to win a single tournament over the span of his career but is persuaded by teammates to play for one more year in an attempt to win Mixed Beach Nationals.

Thirteen members of the ultimate community comprise the latest class inducted into the Ultimate Hall of Fame. The 2023 class was announced on Monday, August 28 and included modern players and legends such as Beau Kittredge, as well as active club players Josh Markette, Chelsea Putnam, and Nancy Sun.

Colombia’s Valeria Cardenas was named the World Games Athlete of the Year after a nailbiting fan voting competition. Cardenas beat out Slovakia’s Monika Chochlikova, a Muay Thai fighter, by 346 votes, less than 1% of Cardenas’ 35,769 votes.
