The AUDL’s San Francisco Flamethrowers continue their major roster overhaul this offseason with the signing of eight more Revolver players for the 2016 season.
Robbie Cahill, Joel Schlachet, Patrick Baylis, Christian Johnson, Nathan White, Sam Kanner, Russell Wynne, and Devon Anderson are all joining the San Francisco team this season.
Wynne, Johnson, Anderson, and White add to the Flamethrowers stack of former San Jose Spiders players; Baylis and Kanner return to the Flamethrowers after a year away; and Schlachet and Cahill join the AUDL for the first time.
“This group of eight is an impactful group of players that could come in and contribute on the high end of any team in the world,” said second year coach and general manager Joshua Greenough. “We are privileged to be able to work with them this season. The fact that we have players of this caliber excited about being a part of this team and the league is amazing.”
The Flamethrowers have already announced a number of big signings this offseason (see the full roster below), but this latest round further enhances an already-deep team.
“We’ve upgraded at the top end,” said Greenough. “We’re faster than we were last year, just in raw speed, which is super important in the AUDL. And we have more ability — from a throwing perspective — to attack vertically.”
With the departure of talent from San Jose, San Francisco will be the early favorite in the AUDL West, with Seattle a close second. Though a lot of focus has been on the acquisitions in Dallas this offseason, the Flamethrowers organization feels great about their signings and potential.
“We’re going to let our first games do the talking rather than early media,” said Greenough.
The Flamethrowers announced roster so far consists of the following players:
