The two teams that reached the 3rd place game at Southeast Regionals took two very different paths to get there. Auburn defeated Tulane in semis to reach the final; Florida lost to that same Tulane team in the quarterfinals and had to fight through the third place bracket. Florida faced four do-or-die games to reach the game-to-go; Auburn hadn’t played a single one, losing first in the final to Georgia and then in the 2nd place game to Florida State.
That set up a grueling showdown in the hot Georgia sun with Auburn seeking a return to Nationals and Florida trying to get back after missing out in 2015. Here are the final points, starting from 10-10, in the game to go:
