For the first time ever, CUT Camp is expanding its Elite camp offerings to include both a Boys’ and Girls’ Division. In the past, CUT Camp has offered camps that have provided mixed gender options, but this will be their first foray into a single gender Elite Girls’ camp.

“We had a gender equity forum this past summer at Session II in Chicago and had the opportunity to have a conversation with all of the girls at camp about their experiences in ultimate,” said CUT Camp coach and Molly Brown star Claire Chastain. “I think the conversation solidified the need for a space for girls to compete with each other without the presence of boys on the field.”

The camp will be capped at 20 campers, which will allow for maximum one-on-one time with the coaches and staff. The CUT Elite Girls camp will be offered in Chicago from July 16-21, 2017. Players can apply now through April 1st.

The Elite camps offer high-level high school aged players the opportunity to compete with other advanced peers. Along with tons of field time, the Elite camp also offers more classroom instruction and video analysis, plus, of course, the opportunity to compete against the coaches. The Elite camps feature a 5:1 camper to coach ratio for lots of individual attention.

While the original CUT Camps will still be fully open to girls, Chastain was optimistic about the advantages of the new girls-only option. “Many girls are exposed to mixed or open ultimate when they begin playing and may not have the opportunity to play single-gender or might not be able to flourish in a camp setting that is largely boys without any set gender ratio requirements on the field,” she said. “While I appreciate some aspects of mixed, especially at the youth level, I find it incredibly empowering to be able to compete, learn, and grow alongside girls and women and hope this camp provides that opportunity.”
