One of the best features of collegiate ultimate is the constant arrival and development of new stars. With the fairly brief window (although unusually long currently due to 6th Year special eligibility) and players at an age during which they evolve a great deal as both athletes and humans, the spotlight never lingers for long, shifting to new faces every season. Some programs have the culture, success, leadership, and/or luck to bring in multiple names to know. Those programs often go on to define future seasons as players and their respective classes begin constructing their legacies.
These days, getting a young star might not be enough. Teams need multiple top level players to compete for titles, both regional and national. And beyond that, teams need strong players up and down the roster. We have dug into the players we project to join college programs around the country, looking at their potential and ultimate backgrounds, from YCC and HSNI to elite club and international medals. With that information, and our own subjective analysis, we have ranked the best recruiting classes for the 2025 college season.
After several outstanding incoming classes, the additions across the top D1 women’s division teams seem to be a step down from the pinnacle this time around, mainly due to the diversion of some of the very top talent to D3 (Ella Widmyer to Middlebury, Milo Brown to Wesleyan, Eve Macek to Clark, Amelia Zdechlik to St Benedict) or non-elite programs (Madoka Uo to BU, Petra Radmanovic to Tulane). However, there are still a large number of notable recruits that are sure to have a major impact on their teams in 2025.
