MAP: The New USAU Club Sections and Regions

Following the Competition Working Group meetings that occur each winter, USA Ultimate has redrawn the club division map in order to resize sections that routinely have more than 16 teams competing.

“It is difficult to set reasonable formats for large sections,” reads the 2025 Sectional Redraw document posted to the USAU website. “Sections over 16 teams are especially challenging given the updates to Health & Safety policies from 2023 that reduced the maximum number of games per day and in a weekend. In order to provide quality sectional events and promote fair competition, we have reviewed sectional boundaries to large sections.”

There have been some notable changes:

In the only Regional shift, greater Toronto has been moved from the Northeast region into the Great Lakes region. This moves long-time powerhouse programs 6ixers and GOAT into a new region where they will face off against typical bid-earners Chicago Nemesis and Chicago Machine, respectively.
A new West Bay section has been created, splitting San Francisco and points south into their own section. Oakland remains in the NorCal section.
Texas has been split in half, with South Texas becoming its own section. The northern half joins Oklahoma and Arkansas in the new Red River section.
East New England and West New England have been redrawn into North New England (Western Mass, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine) and South New England (Boston, Rhode Island).
A new section has been created in the Mid-Atlantic: Central Appalachia. It is comprised of West Virginia, most of Western and Central Pennsylvania, and Baltimore. Washington DC, Virginia, and southern Maryland remain in the Capital section.
The Northwest Plains section in the North Central region is now split into two: Northwest Plains (Minnesota, the Dakotas, and Manitoba) and North Plains (Wisconsin, Michigan’s upper peninsula, and northern Ontario).
Sectionals with small numbers of teams may still be combined with another.
