In a stunning twist at New England Regionals in the Women’s Division, Vermont Bruckus, the B team of Vermont Ruckus, became the first B team ever to qualify for the USA Ultimate College Championships.
Vermont B defeated Brown 8-7 in the third place game-to-go to claim their spot at Nationals.

Bruckus, the #5 seed, almost didn’t even make the bracket. They upset #4 seed McGill 10-8 in their first game of pool play but lost to #10 seed Boston College 9-7. They ended up finishing second in a three-way tie at 1-1 thanks to McGill’s four goal win over Boston College. That gave them an easier prequarters matchup — they beat #12 seed MIT 12-6 and avoided #2 seed Northeastern, who eliminated Boston College.
#1 seed Tufts easily defeated Bruckus 15-4 in quarters, sending Vermont B to the backdoor bracket. On Sunday, they rattled off wins over #11 seed Harvard 9-2, #7 seed UMass 10-5, and then Brown to make Nationals. They did not have to play a team seeded higher than them on championship Sunday: Northeastern lost to Brown 9-8 in backdoor semis.
Vermont B will be the bottom seed at the upcoming D-I College Championships; at least one of their games will be streamed live on Ultiworld during the event!
