The start of the USA Ultimate National Championships will be postponed until Friday after the field site canceled all play on Thursday due to forecasted rain in Del Mar.
The tournament will now proceed under an altered schedule, with pool play as normal on Friday, prequarters and quarters unchanged on Saturday, and a condensed day of semifinals and finals on Sunday with many concurrent games in the first two rounds of competition.
The National Weather Service is forecasting 0.71″ of rain in Del Mar from today through Thursday night — the Surf Sports Park typically cancels play when rain is around the 0.75″ threshold. There is no further rain in the forecast for the weekend.
This is the first time in more than a decade that games have been canceled or delayed at Club Nationals.
