NYC Pro Season Nears: Rumble In New Jersey, Empire In Brooklyn

As New York City finally begins to thaw, attention turns to the upcoming AUDL and MLU seasons, which highlight some of New York’s best players. Ultiworld’s coverage of both semi-pro leagues will begin to roll out next week; here is an early look at where you can watch games here in the tristate area.

Rumble Back In Jersey

Eagle's Nest at Union City High School. The MLU’s New York Rumble have announced that they will be returning to the “Eagle’s Nest” in New Jersey where they played their home games last season. Just across the Hudson from Manhattan, Union High School’s rooftop stadium offers beautiful views of New York and a fun environment to watch games.

“Having a stadium that you can call home is always important to a sport’s team,” said Rumble General Manager Michelle Kondracki. “Something that is unique to Union City High School is there is no track around the stadium, since it’s on a roof of a school building. This allows the loud fans to be closer to the players.”

Major League Ultimate provides bussing from Manhattan directly to the stadium, and public transportation is also available by taking a city bus from Port Authority.

Select Empire Games Set For Coney Island

MCU Park in Coney Island. The AUDL’s New York Empire have announced three games to be played in MCU Park — home of the single A baseball team, the Brooklyn Cyclones — in Coney Island. Their April 13th home opener against the defending AUDL champion Toronto Rush will kick off their games in Coney Island.

“We are excited to call one of the best outdoor athletic facilities in the New York City area ‘home’ and are looking forward to working with the Brooklyn Cyclones to help promote and grow the sport of Ultimate in New York,” said New York Empire owner Jesse Stein.

MCU Park’s concessions — including beer — will be available for fans. With views of the ocean and the Coney Island boardwalk, it is an outstanding venue.

MCU Park is accessible by New York City subway (D, F, N, Q) and bus.

The Empire’s other stadium locations for the remaining five home games have not been announced.
