Metro East D-I and D-III Men’s Regionals had bracket play postponed last weekend and have struggled to find fields this week. But the tournament organizers have now secured fields: the D-I games will be played on UConn’s campus and the D-III ones will head to Hamilton’s campus.
Four of the eight remaining teams in the D-I bracket — RIT, Princeton, Waterloo, and SUNY Binghamton — have dropped out of the tournament. The tournament will be reseeded and structured into new semifinals matchups: top-seeded Connecticut will face the six seed Rutgers and two seed Cornell will match up with the four seed NYU. (Using the original bracket would have given Cornell a bye through two rounds and into the final).
Army and Vassar have dropped from the D-III side, so Hamilton and Connecticut College (the pool winners) will get byes into semis while Cortland and RPI face off in a play-in game with Stevens Tech and TCNJ playing in on the other side of the bracket.
