Welcome to Opening Pull, your weekly wrap-up of the previous week in ultimate. We’ve gathered the news you need to know and highlights you need to see, and we’ll let you know what’s coming up in the next week.
Final National Bid Allocations For Club Divisions
The club regular season is in the rear view, and now the results have been tabulated to pass out the strength bids to regions. The stakes were fairly clear going into the Pro Championships, so while there wasn’t much drama, there are results that might have surprised a few months ago. Headlining is the women’s segment of the Northeast, the only region to hoard four bids. The men’s and mixed divisions in the region each have three bids, meaning 10 teams from the Northeast will be headed across the country for Nationals in San Diego.
It’s also worth noting that the announcement also finalized the top team in each division for the regular season. Minneapolis Drag’N Thrust, San Francisco Fury, and Seattle Sockeye finished in the top slot in mixed, women’s, and men’s, respectively. Drag’N Thrust has an opportunity to be the fourth team across the divisions to win the Triple Crown.

USA Ultimate announced that the D-I College Championships will be held in Milwaukee, WI next May.1 The event will be held at Uihlein Soccer Park. In the end, the final decision returns the tournament to the same site used in 2018 and 2015. The location of the D-III Championships has yet to be revealed.
In addition, the governing body also released information about the 2020 Masters Championships. Masters Nationals will be July 17-19 and host roughly 2000 athletes across seven divisions.
