Six Teams Are Confirmed for HSNI 2022

The tournament is set for Richmond in early June.

The 2022 High School National Invite field is starting to take an early shape.

In the girls division, Lone Peak (UT) and South Eugene (OR) have accepted bids; other western US invites are still pending.

In the boys division, Lone Peak (UT), Nathan Hale (WA), Lincoln (WA), and Eastside Prep (WA) have accepted bids. One additional invite is still pending.

Both Lone Peak teams made deep runs at the last HSNI, reaching the final in the girls division and the semifinals in the boys division. The three boys teams from Washington state were the most accomplished teams in the 2021 fall season: Nathan Hale won the state championship over Eastside Prep, and Lincoln lost in semis to Hale after playing very tight with them throughout the season.

There are 32 spots available at the 2022 HSNI — 16 in each division — that will be held in Richmond, VA, on June 10-11, 2022 (Fri/Sat). Most HSNI invites will go out in the late Spring. This week, Ultiworld will begin releasing biweekly high school top 25 power rankings for each division. Rankings will be based on performance during the season and compiled with a combination of Ultiworld editorial judgment and coaches’ input. During the season, invites will be sent out on a rolling basis based on a number of factors, including team performance and geographical/logistical considerations. In late April or early May, a final power ranking will be released; the top 16 teams in each division will be invited to compete at the National Invite, with declined bids passing to the next team in the rankings.

The tournament will provide a highly competitive and fun conclusion to the high school season after State Championships are completed but before players settle into the summer club season.

The High School National Invite was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but will make its fourth appearance in 2022.
