Which players have defined the last decade?

Q: There’s some set up for this one. I was reflecting the other day that my favorite r/ultimate thread was one about a decade ago where Ben Wiggins (I think?) listed who the best player in the open division had been for each the 10 previous years, including when it switched, etc. The question is, who do you think was the best player in the world for the past ten years in each division. Eg, maybe it was Beau 2015-2017; until Jimmy in 2018, Dylan in 2019, etc for open.

A: Great question! There’s already been some good discussion in the Ultiworld Discord about this question — some folks have said “just look at the Player of the Year to get the answer,” but I actually agree with you and others that it misses the point of the best player of an “era.” There are definitely years where the defining player of their era didn’t win POTY, like, say, Beau Kittredge in 2014 (technically we didn’t give out POTYs that year but Kurt or Jimmy probably would have won).
So let’s get to it. I’ll start in the Men’s Division. * indicates the player won the Ultiworld Player of the Year award in that season.
