There was no shortage of surprises on a windy and spirited Saturday in Knoxville at Smoky Mountain Invite. With so many top-flight teams gathered in one place at a crucial juncture of the season – when their systems, line compositions, and chemistry start to congeal into something with a definite shape – we should have been expecting the unexpected. The tournament’s top seeds #1 Oregon Ego and #2 Carleton CUT, both undefeated on the season heading into the weekend, faced serious challenges in pool play. CUT eked out the win on universe point against #17 Vermont Chill; and Ego succumbed to a furious second half flurry from #4 UNC Darkside.

Other key developments include #11 Northeastern Huskies ousting #7 Texas TUFF in prequarters, Chill dismantling #9 Georgia Jojah in the same round, and a disappointing winless day from #14 Pittsburgh En Sabah Nur. Those are the highlights (and lowlights), but there’s so much more to glean from Saturday’s action. Between the (at times) whipping wind and the ups-and-downs of competition, though, it’s a lot to keep track of – and a lot of what you think you know may change before Sunday. In this complex and mutable information landscape, you need some solid info you can take to the bank. Which stocks are a sure thing? Which should you dump now before the bottom falls out? And which ones deserve a wait-and-see approach?

First, take a look at the results in Score Reporter and make a viewing list to catch up on Saturday’s eight streamed games.

Now, follow our advice and get rich quick.
