Northwest Challenge 2025: Tournament Talk (Men’s Division)

A huge chunk of the major Northwest players and UC Santa Cruz squabbled over strength bids, and BYU finished the regular season the way they started it.

With Easterns looming on the calendar and a slightly weaker field than in recent years, this men’s division edition of Northwest Challenge had all the makings of a write-off weekend. Instead, it delivered spit-take worthy upsets, bid shakeups, and a preview of one of the most intimidating regional fields in the country.

Though headlined by #6 BYU CHI, #8 Oregon State Beavers, #11 Washington Sundodgers, and #13 UC Santa Cruz Slugs, the field was rounded out by two other top 25 teams in #20 Western Washington Dirt and #24 UBC Thunderbirds, both looking to make waves after strong showings at Stanford Invite.
