Takahashi, Fennig lead the week
April 10, 2025 by Paul Würtztack in Analysis

With our weekly or bi-weekly summaries concentrating on sortable Top 20 tables, we nevertheless thought we should offer a distillation of that information to highlight the best of the best of the week.
Now the WUL already announces a Player of the Week, and it’s notable, if unsurprising, that using our respective metrics, BBSM and the WUL have arrived at the same conclusion each of the first three weeks of 2025. Therefore, we’ll leave that recognition in the WUL’s hands, but to complement it, we’ll offer our Top 7. (I considered Line of the Week, except that in the coming weeks, with only a pair of games each weekend, we’ll be publishing bi-weekly).
The Top 7 will combine EDGE, E16, and our newly introduced Player Efficiency Rating (PER) in certain proportions to help identify the best performances, a combination of total production, per-possession productivity, and efficiency.1 Therefore, without further ado:
I didn’t originally consider applying PER to single games, but after a little testing, it seems adaptable. We’ll still heavily weight total production, with the assessment 60 percent EDGE, 20 percent E16, and 20 percent PER. For now. ↩
