Athens, GA – Unlike many past years of Classic City Classic, which have featured surprise finalists ramping ahead of expected title contenders (before ultimately fizzling out during the spring), the 2025 edition stuck much more closely to the script, at least in the men’s division. (Scroll down for notes on the considerably more regional women’s division action.) Colorado Mamabird exacted a small measure of revenge on Carleton CUT in a rematch of last year’s national final, eking out a universe point win.

Would it surprise you at all if CUT and Mamabird faced off for the championship again on Memorial Day 2026? Don’t write their names in ink on your bracket just yet – especially because we haven’t yet seen fellow 2025 national semifinalists and 2026 championship hopefuls Oregon Ego or UMass Zoodisc in serious action – but all indications from CCC suggest they will be as strong next spring as they were six months ago.
