Welcome to Better Box Score Metrics, our analytics column focused primarily on semi-pro statistics and discovering new ways to use data to explore ultimate. It is anchored by EDGE, which we can summarize as converting goals, assists, blocks, turnovers, and yards gained into one metric, while accounting for the scoring and turnover environment.
PUL Weeks 3 & 4
According to the infallible GameRater, Lindsay McKenna notched the fortnight’s top performance in helping secure Philadelphia’s 16-14 win over Minnesota (Table 1), with Milwaukee’s Erynn Schroeder and Raleigh’s Audrey Lyman joining the podium. Table 2 contains EDGE metrics for every player in action in Weeks 3-4.
McKenna’s Week 4 output in Philly’s convincing win over Indy Red was also in the top 10, and these back-to-back performances have her atop the first edition of the SeasonRater leaderboard for the PUL, which is adjusted for team games played (Table 3). Season totals for all players are in Table 4.
