If you’re looking for ECC coverage, go here. We focus here on the rest of the weekend’s happenings.
AUDL Championship Game — Detroit, MI
The Philadelphia Spinners continued their season-long dominance with a 29-22 victory over the Indianapolis Alleycats in the inaugural American Ultimate Disc League championship game.
Despite the league’s legal battle with the Connecticut and Rhode Island franchises, the playoffs went off with no major issues.
Attendance was estimated at around 300 for the Championship game in the Silverdome. It is likely that the league and investors lost money on the game.
Youth Club Championships – Blaine, MN
Open (U19)
Minnesota would fight hard in both semis and finals to win the 2012 YCC with a 13-11 victory over Cincinnati. The always strong youth scenes of Seattle and Denver both came up short in semi-finals.
Open (U16)
Seattle won the battle of the younger generation with an easy 13-6 victory over Delaware Valley. Seattle was dominant throughout, winning both their quarters and semis matchups 13-1. The North Carolina triangle area and the San Francisco bay area rounded out the semifinals.
Mixed
Boston won the battle of mixed teams at YCC with a 13-7 win over Seattle. They were never really challenged — the finals was their closest game of the tournament. Maine was something of a surprise, coming in as the last seeded team to reach the semifinals.
Women’s
Only five teams competed in the women’s division — Seattle won easily in pool play and continued their dominance into Sunday’s bracket play to win the title 13-5 over Cincinatti.
World Juniors Ultimate Championships – Dublin, Ireland
The WJUC kicked off this weekend in Dublin with the match between Israel and Colombia. Colombia would take it 16-7. You can check out some of the game footage from Ultivillage here.
Games continue all this week. Follow the action on the WJUC website.
Summer Glazed Daze — Winston-Salem, NC [S]
A strong group of mid-Atlantic and southeastern mixed teams came to North Carolina this weekend to face off. Top-seeded Cahoots (North Carolina) would make it to the finals after a close game against Baltimore’s American Hyperbole in semis. But they would fall to Raleigh’s wHagonweel 15-13 who went undefeated on the weekend.
Atlanta’s new mixed team Southern Revival came in as the two seed but slipped to fifth.
