Must-Read: Letter From A Spectator At Canadian Nationals

There are moments in Ultimate where you are reminded of what a beautiful game it is. My uncle, before I started playing the sport, used to tell me that heading out to the fields and playing on Sundays was almost a spiritual experience — something like his church. I thought that was silly at the time, but now I see what he means.

Other times it can be like playing in a hard-fought, well-spirited game where both sides come away with a great deal of respect for the other, win or lose.

An older gentleman got a chance to watch many of the Canadian Championship games from his porch over the last few days. He wrote this Facebook note, which has been making the rounds on Twitter, to Ultimate Canada after the weekend. It’s an amazing reminder of just how great the Spirit of the Game can be when applied by everyone.
