With the new year finally here, Ultiworld is ready to forge ahead into an exciting 2014. The spring college season is here!
Although we have filled most of the positions we advertised for in November, we are seeking some additional reporters in specific geographic and subject areas. And, yes, we mean hiring — these are paid positions. If you are interested in getting involved with a fast-growing, high-quality sports journalism brand, we want to hear from you.
Currently we are looking to fill the following positions:
Women’s Regional Coordinator/Writer – Southwest Region
We are looking for smart, capable writers/reporters/editors who know their local Ultimate community well. This position will be a blend of writing, facilitating coverage on a regional basis, editing local writers’ work, and helping develop Ultiworld in the Southwest Region.
The ability to travel on weekends for tournament coverage a plus. (All travel expenses are paid).
Writing, reporting, or editing experience preferred, but not required.
Women’s Regional Coordinator/Writer – Northwest Region
We are looking for smart, capable writers/reporters/editors who know their local Ultimate community well. This position will be a blend of writing, facilitating coverage on a regional basis, editing local writers’ work, and helping develop Ultiworld in the Northwest Region.
The ability to travel on weekends for tournament coverage a plus. (All travel expenses are paid).
Writing, reporting, or editing experience preferred, but not required.
Women’s Regional Coordinator/Writer – South Central Region
We are looking for smart, capable writers/reporters/editors who know their local Ultimate community well. This position will be a blend of writing, facilitating coverage on a regional basis, editing local writers’ work, and helping develop Ultiworld in the South Central Region. This position is ideal for someone living in Denver, Austin, or Houston.
The ability to travel on weekends for tournament coverage a plus. (All travel expenses are paid).
Writing, reporting, or editing experience preferred, but not required.
Youth Division Reporters – Northwest/Southeast/Central
Ultiworld is planning to make youth division reporting a staple of our 2014 coverage. We are seeking a handful of reporters, particularly in the Pacific Northwest, the Southeast, and somewhere in the Midwest (Chicago/Minneapolis/Cincinnati).
This position will largely be focused on tournament reporting, so the ability to travel on weekends is important. (All travel expenses are paid).
This could be a good position for someone already involved in youth ultimate — coaches, tournament directors, etc — that are also interested in writing about the division.
Writing, reporting, or editing experience preferred, but not required.
Professional Ultimate Beat Reporter
Are you interested in following the Major League Ultimate and American Ultimate Disc League seasons with a sharp eye? We are looking for one or two reporters to help out with news gathering, game previews and recaps, and team/player profiles in the professional leagues.
Whether you have interest in only one league or both, we want to hear from you!
Internships — Editorial and Video
Want to get involved with Ultiworld, but not sure you have the requisite experience? Are you a high school or college student who wants to gain experience in reporting, video editing, or writing? We are looking to bring on some awesome young talent to help us in various capacities in both the editorial and video sides of the site.
