The 2016 AUDL Championship Weekend will be held at Breese Stevens Field in Madison, Wisconsin, on August 6-7, the league announced today.
Breese Stevens — the home of the Madison Radicals — has been one of the livelier venues in the AUDL since the Radicals began playing in the league in 2013. The Radicals are also playoff stalwarts, having reached the semifinals in three straight seasons. In 2013 and 2015, the Radicals made it to the Championship game, falling short of a title both times (to the Toronto Rush and San Jose Spiders, respectively).
“The AUDL is excited to bring our Championship Weekend to Madison,” said AUDL Commissioner Steve Gordon in a statement. “Madison has a strong tradition of ultimate, and the Radicals boast one of the league’s largest and loudest fan bases. We are proud to be able to bring the game to such an engaged city.”
Last year’s Championship Weekend — which plays host to the semifinals and finals over two days — was held at San Jose’s Avaya Stadium. The Spiders took home their second straight title in front of a home crowd.
