Ultimate To Air On ESPN8 “The Ocho” Tonight (Really!)

It's a bold strategy, Cotton.

13 years after the fictional emergence of ESPN8 “The Ocho” in the comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, the channel comes to actual television today for one day only. Normally a college focused network, ESPNU is rebranding as ESPN8 today (8/8) and airing “unconventional sports,” including ultimate, as the network re-airs the US Open Mixed final between Seattle Mixtape and Minneapolis Drag’n Thrust that was broadcast live on ESPN2 on Sunday.

The game will be shown at 7 PM Eastern tonight and will close out a day that kicked off with another familiar sport: disc golf. Other sports getting airtime today include cornhole, darts, SkyZone ultimate trampoline dodgeball (of course), and Kabaddi.

According to ESPN, “a vast majority of these events will be available On Demand on both TV and streaming devices; however, unfortunately, Cotton McKnight and Pepper Brooks will not be on-hand to provide colorful commentary of all these great events.”
