Which players had the best weekend?

What’s up with the Atlantic Division’s scoring boom? 11 of the Week 3’s top dozen EDGE scores come from the Atlantic Division, which reflects the fact that the four games represented averaged 11 more goals per game than this weekend’s West Division games. We’ll see whether this is a long-term trend or an early-season distortion.
Also, although the most eye-popping numbers are typically the most compelling, I suspect the difference between winning and losing games is found in team depth, something that these numbers will hopefully be able to illuminate as we get deeper into the season. That said, let’s look at Week 3’s eye-poppers.
CJ Colicchio and Max Sheppard combined for more than half of Pittsburgh’s offensive production in its loss against Philadelphia. Such concentration can produce high EDGE scores, which is why Colicchio’s EDGE sits atop this week’s list, higher than Tanner Halkyard’s despite very similar stat lines. In other words, EDGE calculations confer a small premium for those that generate yardage and scores when the team as a whole is having a hard time doing so.
Six of the next seven EDGE scores were in support of wins, including Eric Taylor’s turnover-free 577-yards effort against Boston. Greg Martin of Philadelphia had the cutter’s version of Taylor’s totals, racking up the largest single-game receiving yards this season by anyone not named Sjogren. Elliott Chartock now seems thoroughly comfortable in the New York offense; his 766 total yards were the second highest of the season. LA’s Sean McDougall broke up the Atlantic’s clean sweep of the top ten with a 650-yard effort against the Sol.
