Tournament Talk: Queen City Tune-Up 2025 (Men’s Division)

Darkside's familiar faces once again topped the field at a wet, windy Queen City Tune-Up.

Queen City Tune-Up is one of the first mid-season East Coast tournaments that draws Nationals-level talent like a dog to pizza crusts1. Venturing into the breach were, of course, #7 UNC Darkside, who is looking for their first tournament win of the season after being dethroned of their annual Carolina Kickoff title. Other notable attendees included #12 WashU Contra, #24 South Carolina Gamecocks, NC State Alpha, and, making their season debut, #15 Penn State Spank! Beyond the top line, this year’s edition of QCTU was a training ground for Atlantic Coast teams looking to size each other up and try to earn a strength bid to Nationals, plus a few out of region interlopers looking to siphon some algorithm points away from the tournament’s home turf. Follow along for my thoughts, insights, and general feelings on the weekend.
