Welcome to the Academy Awards: Stanford Invite Women’s Division Edition! And for the first time in over a decade we’re broadcasting from the lush green fields on Stanford campus proper (instead of the satellite campus at Stevinson Polo Fields). While there may not have been any streaking, slapping [or shingles] at this year’s games, there was plenty of drama to go around. Read on to find out the real Oscar recipients of 2025.

Best Set Design: The Weather

The curse of inevitable downpour at Stanford Invite is broken! That is, at least until Sunday, when rain is forecast to impact the South Bay. Teams were treated to pleasant conditions in the high 50s throughout the day, with a light thrower’s wind picking up during the third round. Despite the generally calm conditions, teams played a lot of zone; several games saw a junky look within the first few points. Many hammers and OI blades came out of the toolbag as windless zone offenses produced far more over-the-top throws than usual.

Best Story: The Southwest Intrigue Deepens

Often regarded as the final leg of the Southwest Triple Crown Tour, Stanford Invite routinely features the top teams in the region and often serves as a preview to the qualifying series later in the season. The relative standings of the Southwest teams was already in question, with no one team going undefeated within the region.
