Recognizing the top performer of the 2025 season.
November 11, 2025 by Graham Gerhart in Awards

Ultiworld is pleased to announce our annual Club Awards, continuing with the Club Player of the Year in each division. While we consider both regular season and postseason performance, because of the nature of the Club division, we weight success in the Series and at Nationals above all else. TThe Club Awards are voted on by Ultiworld reporters, contributors, and editors.
Player of the Year is our most prestigious award. Our Player of the Year winner is the best performer of the 2025 club season, and the highest vote-getter for All-Club honors. The winner is not eligible for consideration in any of our other individual awards.

2025 Women’s Division Club Player Of The Year
Anna Thompson (Fury)

Six years ago, Anna Thompson stormed through the mixed division and led AMP to their second consecutive title on her way to her first Player of the Year win. Six years after conquering the mixed, Thompson decided to do the same in women’s.
Looking back, it was hard not to see it coming. After taking a few years to find her role on Fury, Thompson has now become the de facto leader of the team, especially on offense. For a roster that is known for balance and even-handed offense, the disc sure does seem to end up in Thompson’s hands a lot when they need a bucket. It’s not that Thompson is demanding the disc or her teammates are going out of their way to feed her, either. She’s just in the right spot at the right time over and over again.
What has stood out for Thompson this year has been her range. She’s done everything and more for Fury throughout the 2025 season. While primarily a backfield handler, Thompson effortlessly adapted when defenses pushed her downfield, using her unheralded athleticism to get separation on deep cuts and roofing her opponent if the separation isn’t there. The threat of her deep game has also made her a readily viable initiating cutter, which is even more threatening for opponents than if they had allowed her to remain as a reset option.
The 2025 iteration of Anna Thompson still looks a lot like the 2019 version that won in the Mixed division all those years ago. She’s still an outstanding defender, an ice-in-her-veins thrower, and a player you want on the field when the tension’s building. She’s also just refined her game in a way that would take a lifetime for anyone else. The competition for PotY was steep this year, but a ‘steeply competitive’ sort of environment is where Thompson thrives best. She has made a career of proving it, and 2025 may well have been the most persuasive illustration yet.
