The nice thing about the three-day Presidents’ Day Invite format is that no one is eliminated on Saturday. That means we, the fans, can take a beat and try to think clearly about what happened rather than simply write a team’s whole weekend off or crown them based on one or two games. And we need to do just that. Day One had some eye-opening results — we’ll have to look into the details to decide whether to believe those results are trendlines that will continue.
Superfly Super-FLATTEN Element
What on Earth wouldn’t I have given to be in the #5 Stanford Superfly post-game huddle as they took in the full sensation of having beaten #3 Washington Element? ‘Beaten’ is too weak a word: ‘dismantled’ — no — ‘undid’ — no… ‘razed’? Razed. There wasn’t anything left standing vaguely reminiscent of Washington but wheat stubble by the time the 13-1 razing was complete. Yes, you read that right: 13-1.
