WAUKEGAN, IL — Bracket play in the men’s division of the D-III College Championships was full of great ultimate, chaotic moments, upsets, and great individuals making phenomenal plays. Rather than try to sum up and break down everything that happened (which would take too many words), we’ll tell the story of day two with the best players of the day, making their best plays of the day.

Mikey Curtis (Berry Bucks)

You’ll have to take my word for this one, because we sadly didn’t stream Berry’s prequarterfinal upset of Lewis & Clark Bacchus. But Mikey Curtis made some incredible catches down the stretch to seal the Berry win. His best was probably the sky-high leap he made to get Berry to the goal line on game point, but he got handblocked on the next throw.

So instead, I’ll tell you about the catch he made to put Berry in front for good, a bid for a break to make the score 14-13. After an Orlando Impas turnover, Eli Hoshide picked up the disc as Curtis took off downfield. Hoshide immediately shot deep, and seemed to have overthrown Curtis. Instead, Curtis found a second wind, leapt, reached out his arms, and caught the disc about a foot above the ground, scoring his eighth and final goal of the game.
