Thoreson becomes Colorado Mamabird’s third winner.

Colorado’s Zeke Thoreson was named the 2026 Callahan Award winner in the men’s division on Sunday afternoon. Thoreson becomes the fourth winner from the University of Colorado following Jimmy Mickle (2014), Alex Snyder (2006), and Joshua “Richter” Ackley (2004).
Thoreson is a major leader for #1 Colorado Mamabird, the title favorite this season. As his game developed over the last few seasons, Thoreson evolved into an offensive threat too, using his speed to outrun defenders. A well-rounded player, Thoreson’s bag of throws deepened and he is a multi-dimensional threat for Mamabird.
Thoreson was not a particularly well-known recruit to Mamabird, but quickly made a name for himself as a lockdown defender. The two-time defending Defensive Player of the Year, Thoreson has a penchant for making big plays in big moments. His four blocks in last season’s title game cemented his position as the best defender in the division, and he has lived up to the hype this season, too, even as his offensive role expanded.
Just as important as his stellar play on the field, Thoreson is a model teammate and respected competitor. His competitive drive, intangible leadership, and constant push to improve make him a particularly worthy winner. Teammates praise Thoreson’s willpower and stamina, and he has garnered a healthy respect among his competitors for his obviously skilled but also kind-spirited play.
Thoreson’s Callahan video is a true cinematic masterpiece with over 19,000 views, the most viewed men’s video of the 2026 Callahan season. Check it out below:
