Women’s Division
Select Flight Invite West: No Laughing Matter
On the West Coast at Select Flight Invite West, no.2 seed Oakland LOL finished first with a sparkling 6-0 record, which was capped off by a commanding 15-3 victory over the top seed Utah Dark Sky. Finishing second werr San Diego Wildfire, whose 5-1 record included a lone loss to Dark Sky, 11-7. Unfortunately, LOL and Wildfire did not get to meet, as the 10-team tournament format featured six predetermined matchups and did not include any bracket play. Los Angeles Rampage were the other big winners on the weekend, only taking losses to Wildfire and LOL en route to a 4-2 weekend after entering the tournament seeded fifth.
Select Flight Invite East: 6ix on Top
#8 Toronto 6ixers delivered a dominant showing at Select Flight Invite East, never giving up more than nine points in a single game across their six victories. The tournament featured a Swiss draw format on Day 1 before transitioning to a traditional bracket on the second day of competition. In the final, the 6ixers bested #15 Dallas Dimes 15-7, who had to beat #21 Northampton Starling in the semifinals to get there. #11 Quebec Iris claimed third over Starling and collected a win over another power-ranked squad, 14-11 on the first day against #17 Chicago Nemesis.

Next week features the U.S. Open, the biggest regular-season tournament so far and a preview of what Nationals could look like. Men’s Division
Select Flight Invite West: Shining Bright
It was a second tournament win of the season for #15 Eugene Dark Star as they bested Chicago Trident 15-14 in the final of Select Flight Invite West. Dark Star have largely flown through non-power ranked competition, going undefeated at Eugene Summer Solstice at the end of June before placing fourth at the more competitive Pro-Elite Challenge West earlier this month. Trident, the no.5 seed, had a pair of narrow matchups in the bracket, including a one-point semifinal victory over no.6 Santa Cruz Wavestorms.
Select Flight Invite East: The Herd Stampedes to First
At Select Flight Invite East, #12 Toronto GOAT were a class above, outscoring their opponents 45-17 in pool play before cruising through the bracket to finish 6-0. In the championship matchup, GOAT faced their closest game of the tournament, winning 15-10 over New York Blueprint. No.2 seed Florida Untied dropped a pool play game to Columbus Flying Dutchmen, the eighth seed, and ended up having to take on GOAT in the quarterfinals. Notably, the sixth seed Pittsburgh Temper and seventh seed Hartford Colt were the two other semifinalists.

Looking Ahead
Next week features a preview of Club Nationals as 10 power-ranked teams are in action at the U.S. Open. Competing for early-season supremacy will be #1 Portland Rhino Slam!, #2 San Francisco Revolver, #3 Boston DiG, #4 New York PoNY, #5 Raleigh Ring of Fire, #6 Chicago Machine, #7 Minneapolis Sub Zero, #9 Washington DC Truck Stop, #13 Denver Johnny Bravo and #16 Seattle Sockeye. Joining them will be international teams Medellín Evolution from Colombia and Tumero Warao from Venezuela.
Other regional action includes Lehigh Valley Invite and PB&J.
Mixed Division
Select Flight Invite West: Wrapping Up the Title
Some online discussion was had this past week on the seeding of #17 San Diego California Burrito at no.8 at Select Flight Invite West. Burrito proved the skepticism correct, first doubling up top seed Denver Flight Club 14-7 in pool play before besting them again by a comfortable 15-8 scoreline in the championship battle. Adding to the intrigue of the tournament was a first-round upset for no.9 San Francisco Classy over no.3 Denver Space Ghosts en route to making the semifinals, along with the appearance of the no.6 Bay Area Donuts in the top four.
Select Flight Invite East: Union Complete the Toronto Sweep
Ensuring Toronto finished on top of all three divisions at Select Flight Invite East, #20 Toronto Union were dominant in the bracket, ending with a 45-19 point differential across the three games. The final was a strong 15-6 showing over the no.8 seed Burlington Big Rig, who knocked off #21 Nashville ’Shine 13-10 in pool play. ’Shine had a tournament to forget, finishing 11th as they dropped a close 13-12 pool play matchup to Chicago RAMP, the 15th seed, which put them into the consolation bracket.

Next week features the U.S. Open, a mini-Nationals field featuring #1 New York XIST, #2 Fort Collins shame., #3 Boston Slow, #5 Minneapolis Drag’n Thrust, #8 Austin Disco Club, #9 Boston Sprocket, #10 Ann Arbor Hybrid, #12 Seattle Mixtape, #13 Durham Toro, #18 Washington DC Rally and #19 Huntsville Space Force. One international team is also set to compete in Bucaramanga Voltaje U.C. from Colombia.
