With the 2026 WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships in the book, the Beat Charlie Challenge is complete. We picked the winners, guessed the props, and tried to find the upsets and which favorites to target. Hopefully, following along was fun. We keep trying to improve the mechanics to make it as fun as possible!
But let’s see how Charlie did, talk about the popular picks, and announce the winners for this round of the BCC.

Just 9 of 115 entries beat Charlie this time, as he ended up in the 92nd percentile with 45 points.

His top division was Open, where he scored 18 (vs. 15.1 average) and got all four semifinalists right. He was right in line with the average in the Women’s division, scoring 8 (vs. 8.0 average). He added 17 in the Mixed division, comfortably above the 14.2 average.
Charlie also got 1.5 bonus points (three of the six questions), above the 1.2 average.

Charlie significantly outperformed the field in the Mixed Division, bolstered by perfectly predicting the final matchup of #1 Hybrid and #6 XIST, along with Hybrid taking the crown. He snagged four of the eight actual quarterfinalists (Hybrid, Deep Space, XIST, and shame.) and hit on three of the four semifinalists (missing only the European surprise, Mosquitos Klosterneuburg). Fading some of the lower seeds that made deep runs didn’t hurt him too badly, as his read on the top-end contenders proved incredibly sharp.

A strong showing for the bossman. He correctly identified all four semifinalists – Revolver, Mooncatchers, Clapham, and PoNY – and hit on six of the eight quarterfinalists, successfully calling a deep run for #28 Gentle while only missing on Wall City and Sunder. The sole blemish on his late-stage predictions was taking Mooncatchers over PoNY to reach the final, but confidently picking Revolver to win it all secured his massive point total in a division that gave most entrants trouble.

Charlie’s Women’s division bracket was heavily marred by #1 Macana missing the quarterfinals entirely and his champion pick, #3 Fury, falling in the semifinals. Despite this, he still scored nearly double the field average. He correctly identified five of the eight quarterfinalists – including accurately calling #14 Seacows to advance – and nailed three of the four semifinalists (missing only the ultimate runner-up, GRUT). He missed out on major points by fading Scandal’s championship run in the final, but his strong early-round foundation kept his score with the rest of the pack.
The Bonuses
A preface note on Bonuses: mistakenly, I ported over the format from #TheGame for Bonus Questions and forgot to adjust the point values. There are way fewer points in Beat Charlie Challenge than #TheGame, so I scaled all the bonus questions back to .5 points per.
How many pools will be won by the top seeded team, across all divisions? (There are 24 total pools) [.5 Pts]
By far the most popular pick was the winner: 18 or more pools. People called for the chalk, with 58.3% of the entrants choosing that correct answer.
Which trio of players will have the most total goals and assists? [.5 Pts]
I slipped a little mini-fantasy in our Bonus Questions. Three of our trios were appropriately the most popular: The USA, Canada, and Germans representatives, led slightly by the United States’ 29.6%. Anna Gerner and Tom Blasman went off for 40+ a piece, making for an easy win. They were followed by Australia and Japan, so the wisdom of the crowd wasn’t that wise.
What will be the result of the showcase matchup between Swampybarg and 3SB? [.5 Pts]
Swampybarg was the heavy favorite, with 53% of entrants expecting them to cover -2.5 and they easily cleared that.
What will be the result of the showcase matchup between Manly Mosh and Macondo? [.5 Pts]
I vastly overestimated Macondo’s competitive (whoops), but the group didn’t: 51.3% of entrants selected Manly Mosh to cover -2.5 and win by 3 or more.
What will be the result of the showcase matchup between GOAT and BFD la Fotta? [.5 Pts]
The wide margins continued on the showcase, with BFD la Fotta win by 3 or more. However, bucking the trend, this time the most popular choice was la Fotta winning by 1 or 2. The 4-way split provided a new challenge. But only 23.2% of entrants picked either GOAT winning entry.
What will be the result of the showcase matchup between Clapham and Gentle? [.5 Pts]
This matchup really split the entrants, with 44.3% on Gentle wins by.1 or 2 and 32.2% on Clapham by 2 or more. That’s a surprising contrast. The latter were right, as all of our bonus games were decided by 2 or more goals.
The Winners
The top scorer for this run was Sean C with 48.5 points. However, that’s Ultiworld European editor Sean Colfer, who is ineligible for a prize. That means the runner-up, JONAS claims the prize with 48 points.
Yay Area and Kyle Kretschmann were randomly selected players who outscored Charlie who will both also receive a free month of Standard subscription.
