Comments Policy

We haven’t explicitly stated a comments policy to this point, which is largely because we’ve had almost no problems. Our readers almost always have great insight and useful things to add to the conversation.

But, earlier this week, we ran into an issue.

In the comments on our article about the New Jersey Hammerheads’ logo copyright issues, one commenter with terrible grammar started attacking Ed Twedt with rough language and needless name-calling. After some consideration, we deleted the comments.

Criticism is perfectly valid and we encourage healthy, even heated discussion. But name-calling and other ad hominem attacks will now be deleted.

We also reserve the right to delete comments that go significantly off topic or correct small points of grammar. (You should still correct us! We’ll fix it, then delete your comment). They provide no real use in the comments section, which we hope to keep a place of intelligent discussion and debate.
