Michigan MagnUM, the men’s ultimate team at UM, wrote passionately in a university publication asking new head football coach Jim Harbaugh to come out to one of the team’s practices. Harbaugh, the former San Francisco 49ers head coach, has become a star on campus in part because he has been showing up to other sporting events outside of football.
“Coach, in two weekends, we face our toughest challenge, the regional championships —- a survive and advance format where only the strongest push forth,” wrote Michigan’s Eli Leonard. “Recently our coach, who like you has the ability to coach professional ball but prefers college, had a beautiful baby girl (BABY), and he could use any help he can get to inspire the troops. We urge, implore, and plead for your visit to our practice, where your presence would not only be inspirational, but would go down as legendary in the perpetually written MagnUM history books. Please, if you have any time off from the grind in the coming week, come participate in the closest group of brothers on campus (BROTHERS).”
