Both the American Ultimate Disc League and Major League Ultimate are continuing their push towards the 2013 season. Here’s a look at what happened in the leagues this week.
AUDL
The New York Empire, DC Breeze, and Indianapolis Alleycats held their first combines last weekend. The Empire tryout was well-attended, with about 60 participants. There were a number of PoNY players and a handful of former Connecticut Constitution players there. The Empire will hold a second tryout next month.
The DC Breeze was a more community affair, with players of all ages and skills, from high schoolers up to club players.
The Indy Alleycats, one of the top franchises in the league last season, put out some video of their event:

MLU
The MLU continues to sign talent — both players and management — in their host cities around the country. Yesterday, they announced the hiring of Michelle Kondracki as the General Manager of the New York Rumble. They also announced that Chris Sherwood will be the GM of the San Francisco Dogfish. That leaves just Vancouver without announced management.
The league did sign Furious George star Morgan Hibbert as a player for the season. He kicked off his professional career correctly with an absolutely perfect quote. The MLU also signed Jeff Graham — the co-founder of Ironside and The Ghosts — for the Boston Whitecaps.
The first batch of MLU combines is completed as well. The Portland Stags, DC Current, and Philadelphia Spinners all held their combines this past weekend.
