The New York Rumble’s youth skills clinic, originally scheduled for this weekend, has been canceled due to the government shutdown.
Aviator Field in the Rockaways in Brooklyn, where the clinic was to be held, operates on the site of New York’s first municipal airport, Floyd Bennett Field, which is now a part of the Gateway National Recreation Area, which is run by the National Park Service.
National Parks have closed around the country due to the ongoing political stalemate in Washington. Congress has not passed a spending bill for the new fiscal year, leading to thousands of furloughed workers and a shutdown of many public services. This is the fourth day of the government shutdown.
The Rumble’s assistant coach Anthony Nuñez told Ultiworld that the team plans to reschedule the clinic at a later date.
