As the youth summer ultimate camp scene continues to expand, there’s a fresh, new offering this year in the Pacific Northwest: the VC Ultimate Leadership Training Camp.
The VC ULT Camp, for short, is an overnight camp in Seattle, Washington, for ultimate players aged 14-18. It will run in two sessions: July 18-23 and July 25-30. The camp is designed to help athletes develop as players on the field and leaders who can bring out the best in themselves and the teams that they are on. The camp will offer top notch coaching as well as an intensively designed curriculum that will help campers be their best.
It’s not just that players will be learning from elite players; they’ll be learning from elite leaders, those who have years of captaining and coaching experience. The camp will also include a video analysis component and classroom sessions designed to raise the analytical capabilities of attendees as well.
University of Washington coach Kyle Weisbrod is the camp’s director and creator. He has been a long-time leader and coach, including at the youth level. Most recently, he was the Team USA U19 Women’s coach in 2012 and 2014. Many top players and coaches — including George Stubbs, Miranda Roth Knowles, and DeAnna Ball — are involved in some capacity. Moses Rifkin, a successful youth coach in Seattle, is the assistant director.
The camp is being offered by DiscNW and sponsored by VC Ultimate. You can get more information and register at the VC ULT Camp website. You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter for real-time updates about coaching announcements and more.
