The men's division at EUC will qualify three teams for WUGC next year!

WFDF has announced their bids for the World Ultimate and Guts Championships in 2020 in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. There will be space for 32 men’s and women’s teams as well as 40 mixed teams. Below are the provisional bid allocations:

Bids were allocated based on applications of interest and using the bid allocation rules in the WFDF Rules Appendix:
E4.1. For each division, where space is available, all WFDF Member Federations indicating an expression of interest for each division will receive one (1) bid in each playing division for each event.
E4.2. Where events have limitations on the number of teams or participants, WFDF will reduce the number of bids offered to Member Federations by the following criteria implemented in order. No Federation will receive more than one (1) bid per playing division. For section E4.2.1 & E4.2.2 WFDF may limit the number of bids offered using the most recent WFDF World Rankings of Ultimate if implementing that criteria for all Member Federations exceeds the event capacity.
E4.2.1. WFDF Member Federations receive one (1) bid in each playing division in which the Member Federation placed a team in the top nine (9) (including ties), from the previous relevant World National Team Event.
E4.2.2. WFDF Member Federations not receiving a bid from E4.2.1 will receive one (1) bid in each playing division in which the Member Federation placed a team in the top three (3) (including ties), following the removal of teams from countries receiving bids in E4.2.1, from that country’s previous relevant Continental Event concluding the year prior to the event.
E4.2.3. Remaining bids for each division will be given to WFDF Member Federations who have not received a bid in E4.2.1 or E4.2.2 based on the current WFDF World Ultimate Rankings as of the time of close of registration for the event.
Waiting Lists
Waiting lists are as follows:
Men’s: Netherlands, Finland, Ireland, Singapore, Czech Republic, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Estonia, Egypt, (Venezuela, Mexico, Panama)1
Women’s: Estonia, Lithuania, Panama, Iran
Mixed: Singapore, Hong Kong, Dominican Republic, Slovakia, China, Venezuela, Liberia
EUC Qualifiers
Rule E4.2.2 states that after initial allocation, three finishers from a relevant Continental Event may be added to the tournament. This rule is being used in the men’s division. The European Ultimate Championships kick off today and the remaining European teams on the waiting list will be vying for the last three spots. As Estonia and Portugal are not in attendance, the top three finishers out of the Netherlands, Finland, Ireland, the Czech Republic, and Poland in the men’s division at the EUC will be granted spots to WUGC 2020.
Venezuela, Mexico and Panama were added to the waiting list later after an error in the system. It is unclear exactly where in the waiting list these teams will be. ↩
