The Irish women’s team, who won the EUC earlier this year, were invited to Áras an Uachtaráin, the official residence of the president of Ireland, and met with president Michael D. Higgins on Friday, November 8. The president has been a vocal supporter of women’s sports. The team discussed work on the 20×20 campaign to shift the cultural perception of women’s sport through increased visibility, participation and attendance of women’s sports by 20% by 2020. The Irish Flying Disc Association (IFDA) is an official partner of the 20×20 campaign.
The visit has been covered on the president’s own website as well as the Irish Times.
