Q: Every TCT tournament winner should get an auto-bid to Nationals. No postseason required. That’s the only way to get teams to care. Change my mind.

Q: To make TCT winners getting an auto-bid work within the existing construction of Regionals->Nationals bid, you could just exclude auto-bid winners from bid allocation algorithms (and just allocate X fewer bids based on rankings, where X is the number of auto-bids awarded from winning TCT events). So a region where the second-highest team is ranked 20th still gets their auto-bid for the scrub teams to compete for. This would likely mean a “worse” field at Nationals but, in all likelihood, you’re simply trading one 16-seed for another.
