From the end of pool play to the prequarters, the theme of Day 2 in the women’s division was clear: big break runs. Teams ran out to huge leads and seemed likely to put opponents away early, only to see those same opponents mount furious comebacks off big break runs of their own. Many of them were linked, with one run seemingly leading to the next to take over or turn around a score line. It made for a seesaw day where it was hard to get a read on which team would end up on top, even late in games.
We look at how these runs played out across Uihlein Soccer Park and what it meant for the results heading into Sunday.
