The Commonwealth Cup (Weekend 2) returned to Axton, Virginia this past weekend, where 21 teams took the field over two days of action. #7 Vermont Ruckus entered as the only national title contender in the field, while #19 Pennsylvania Venus and #21 Notre Dame Echo represented the only other two ranked squads in the field, with the latter making their first tournament appearance of the spring. This weekend wasn’t as much about a measuring up of the elite, but with power pools pitting the top eight teams together in pool play, let’s look at how a weekend of competition between teams on the outside looking into the top 25 may shake up the bid-earning picture come April.
